In 1970, I was appointed Dean of the Corcoran School of Art.  Two years later, the Trustees named me Director of the Corcoran Gallery of Art; a position that I held until 1977.

Even Agnes thinks that this photograph
looks like me?  Years ago, a former Leeds
student, Mick Durham did a drawing over a
copy of this image; with glasses, I do see
a resemblance.  Maybe I was meant to be
at the Corcoran!
