Slade has remained a practicing artist and out-spoken advocate of the arts throughout his career. He has presented lectures on contemporary art in the United States, Europe, South America and Japan, and acted as curator or juror for over one hundred exhibitions. His own paintings are exhibited widely and are included in many private and public collections. Based on almost thirty years experience in the United States as a painter, arts administrator and educator, his lectures and writings deal with contemporary art and art museums. In recent years, Slade has been an active, honorary member of AAMD, lectured, written, and exhibited as an artist.
